Watermark Weatlth Management (WWM) was established in January 2013 in direct response to the Financial Services Authority’s Retail Distribution Review (RDR), legislation which required financial services firms to adhere to a range of new rules. Prior to 2013 the business owners operated a single entity known as Watermark Financial Solutions Limited (WFSL), established in 2006 as a natural progression of the original Watermark Financial Services Partnership, which was established way back in 1990.
WFSL was both an Independent Financial Advisory (IFA) firm and a Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM) firm. The new legislation led the business owners to carve out the financial advsory side of the business into Watermark Wealth Management (WWM) and to retain WFSL as a stand alone Discretionary Portfolio Management firm. The changes we have made should provide greater transparency and enable us to focus more specialised resources where required.
